Examination Policy
This policy outlines the rules and procedures governing the examination process at Beacon College. It aims to ensure fairness, transparency, and academic integrity in all assessments.
This policy applies to all students enrolled in academic programs at Beacon College and covers all types of examinations including quizzes, midterms, finals, practical exams, and makeup exams.
The minimum passing mark for all courses is 60%.
Students must achieve at least 60% in both theoretical and practical components (where applicable) to pass the course.
Final grades are based on the cumulative performance in all evaluations, including:
Class participation
Assignments
Quizzes
Midterm exams
Final exams
Practical/lab performance (if applicable)
Midterm exams are compulsory for all students.
Students who fail the midterm exam (i.e., score below 60%) will be given one opportunity to appear in a makeup midterm examination.
The makeup exam will cover the same syllabus and maintain the same difficulty level as the original midterm.
Makeup exams will be scheduled within two weeks after the declaration of midterm results.
Final examinations are held at the end of each semester.
No student will be allowed to appear in the final exam without:
Completion of minimum attendance requirements (75%).
Clearance of college dues.
Completion of all coursework and internal assessments.
Makeup exams will be allowed only under the following conditions:
Failure in midterm (one opportunity only).
Medical emergency (with valid documentation).
Other valid and verifiable reasons approved by the Examination Committee.
No makeup exam will be offered for the final exam unless approved by the Principal based on genuine hardship cases.
Any form of cheating, impersonation, plagiarism, or use of unauthorized materials during exams is strictly prohibited.
Students found guilty of academic misconduct may face disciplinary actions, including disqualification from the exam and further penalties as per the college's Disciplinary Policy.
Students may request rechecking of their exam papers within five working days of result declaration.
Rechecking requests must be submitted in writing to the Examination Office with the prescribed fee.
Faculty are responsible for maintaining the integrity and fairness of the examination process.
Students must be aware of and adhere to this policy at all times.
Examination Committee will oversee the implementation, review, and enforcement of the policy.
This policy will be reviewed annually and revised as needed to reflect changes in academic standards and institutional requirements.
